Southway Senior Project Manager Brad Zacchero was interviewed on an episode of CREW Conversations, a podcast hosted by CREWBaltimore. He joined Christina Tufaro, Development Manager at Terra Nova Ventures, to discuss the historic adaptive reuse construction of Ellicott Mill, an eight-story flour mill built in 1916 on a site with roots dating back to 1774.

Today, Southway is transforming the former mill into a vibrant mixed-use destination featuring 190 apartments, a destination restaurant, retail space, and a historic display honoring the property’s legacy.

For Brad, the project is about more than adapting an old building for modern use. It requires understanding what makes the property unique, navigating the challenges that come with a century-old structure, and finding ways to preserve its character while preparing it for a new future.

During the episode, Brad and Christina share the vision behind the Ellicott Mill redevelopment, discuss the unique challenges of transforming a historic property for modern use, and explore how the project is preserving the building’s character while creating something new for the community.
