Southway recently joined Community Home Trust and project partners in celebrating the groundbreaking of Homestead Gardens, a new affordable housing community in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Southway is serving as the construction management firm for the project, which is being developed on town-owned land at 2200 Homestead Road. The development is a collaborative effort between Community Home Trust, public partners, and local stakeholders focused on expanding access to attainable housing in the region.

Once complete, Homestead Gardens will include more than 100 mixed-income homes, offering both rental and homeownership opportunities for households across a range of income levels. The project is designed to help address ongoing housing affordability challenges in Chapel Hill and surrounding communities.

In addition to residential units, the community will include shared amenities such as green space, walking trails, playgrounds, and gathering areas intended to support connection and livability for residents.

As construction manager, Southway is overseeing coordination of construction activities and project execution in partnership with the development team to help ensure successful delivery of the community.

Homestead Gardens represents a continued effort among local partners to expand housing options and support long-term community stability in the region.
