Revitalizing an aging affordable senior housing community is about more than updating a building — it’s about preserving a critical resource for the people who depend on it. Catoctin View Apartments, originally constructed in the early 1970s, required a comprehensive transformation to continue serving Frederick’s senior population.

Southway led a full interior gut renovation of the seven-story building, reconfiguring 100 apartments into 76 more functional, accessible, and comfortable homes. The renovation included new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, replacement windows and roofing, and a complete redesign of the interior layout.

Supported by 4% LIHTC, the redevelopment reinvested in the aging property while improving its performance, durability, and long-term viability. With its renewed infrastructure and redesigned living spaces, Catoctin View is positioned to continue serving Frederick’s seniors for years to come.
