Southway was selected as construction manager for the 74-unit, low income family apartment building in the Greenmount West neighborhood. The 93,711 SF building includes one, two, and three-bedroom units. The program includes 14 units that are set aside for Non-Elderly Disabled persons, two units that are built for visually or hearing impaired residents, and 12 units that are fully accessible (UFAS). The four-story wood frame building includes a courtyard and exterior made of brick, cement and glass. Adjacency to the CSX rail tunnels required additional planning for the work staging, and installation of 148 rammed aggregate structural piers.
